Description: | Millsaps College, a selective, residential liberal arts college that competes at the NCAA Division III level and is in the Southern Athletic Association, seeks qualified individuals for the open position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This role is a 10 month, full time staff (non-faculty) appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization, supervision, and administration of an NCAA III Men’s Basketball program. The candidate will demonstrate and articulate an understanding and commitment to a liberal arts education, the Division III model and an appreciation for a commitment to the NCAA, Southern Athletic Association and the mission and guidelines of the college. The candidate should possess outstanding communication skills, strong leadership and mentoring abilities and the ability to create a culture of care and discipline. Other duties, but not limited to, include the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, practice and game preparation, scheduling of opponents, compliance, public relations for the college, management and adherence to the operational budget for basketball, fundraising initiatives, travel logistics, equipment and uniform management, monitoring of academic progress, and the supervision of any staff. Other duties may include game day management and other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating campus and community support for a Basketball program with playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred). Prior coaching/playing experience required, preferably at the NCAA Division III level. Candidates must understand and embrace the Division III philosophy. Eligibility for employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background screening. |
