A bunch of things that I’ve heard as we inch closer to the 7/12 evaluation period…
- Former Bethune-Cookman head coach Gravelle Craig is involved with an assistant spot at Florida A&M. He was the head coach at B-CU from 2011-17 where he went 74–123. New FAMU head coach Robert McCullum has not announced any official hires yet.
-
Columbia assistant coach Jean Bain will be promoted to associate head coach for the Lions. Last season was his first on Jim Engles staff – he had spent four years as the associate head coach at Dartmouth before that. The former standout at Northeastern has also worked as an assistant at New Hampshire for six seasons. An official announcement is expected early this week.
-
Southern Mississippi has promoted graduate assistant Jake Stoffers to Video Coordinator. Prior to joining Doc Sadler’s staff in 2015, Stoffers spent four years as a student-manager for Iowa State under Fred Hoiberg.
- Major Deacon will become the graduate assistant at Northwestern State (La.) University. Deacon had been the head coach at Baker (AL) high school for the past two seasons, and played collegiately at University of Mobile (AL).
-
New Washburn head coach Brett Ballard has added Joe Balestrieri to his staff. Balestrieri, a former manager at Kansas, had been the video coordinator at Wake Forest for the past three seasons where he worked with Ballard. The pair has also been together at Tulsa and Baker University (OK).
-
I have heard that former Missouri State West plains assistant Matt Dillard has joined the Redlands CC (OK) staff as an assistant coach. Dillard has also been an assistant at Seminole State (OK), and Western Oklahoma State.
-
Will have some “dirt” on Maryland, WKU, Furman, and La Salle shortly…
