I can confirm that Brandon Mason has been named as an assistant coach at New Mexico, and is already out on the road recruiting for the Lobos. He replaces Mark Hsu who became an assistant at Western Kentucky last week.
Mason spent last season as the director or player personnel at UNLV. He came to Las Vegas with head coach Marvin Menzies after spending the 2015-16 season as New Mexico State’s special assistant to the head coach. Mason played collegiately at New Mexico State, when current New Mexico head coach Paul Weir was an assistant there. After wrapping up his playing career Mason served as the video administrator at New Mexico, and also worked as an assistant coach at New Mexico Highlands.
An official announcement is expected shortly.
