Kent State men’s basketball coach Rob Senderoff has announced the hiring of Aaron Fuss as an assistant coach.
Fuss comes to Kent State from UT Chattanooga, where he spent two seasons on Lamont Paris’ staff as an assistant coach.
” We are excited to add Aaron Fuss to our program,” said Senderoff. “Aaron is a proven recruiter and has extensive experience in the Mid-American Conference and has been a part of winning program’s while working for some very good coaches. We are excited to have him here and work with our student-athletes and having him and his family becoming a part of the Kent State community.”
Fuss comes with a wealth of collegiate experience, especially knowledge of the Mid-American Conference. Prior to UT Chattanooga, Fuss spent nine seasons with the Ohio Bobcats. He started as the director of basketball operations (2008-09) before being elevated to assistant coach in 2013.
“I’ve known coach Senderoff for some time and have always respected the success of Kent State,” said Fuss. ” It’s an exciting time to be at a program with so much tradition and I’m excited to come back to a conference that is as competitive as the MAC. I’m looking forward to working with our student-athletes and am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the family and community.”
During his tenure at Ohio, the Bobcats reached the postseason six times with two NCAA Tournament appearances, including making it to the Sweet 16 in 2012. The Bobcats won 20 or more games on five occasions, including a school-record of 29 wins in 2012. They captured two MAC titles along the way. During Fuss’ time, Ohio won 60.5 percent (167-109) of its games.
He began his career at Ohio State as a student manager. Thad Matta elevated Fuss to a graduate manager in 2005. The Buckeyes tallied a 61-10 mark in his two seasons in that role winning the Big Ten Championship in both seasons. His role included coordinating film exchange, overseeing student managers, helping arrange team travel and managing clinics, special events and summer camps. He assisted the Buckeyes run to the 2007 title game against Florida, writing advanced scouts on each opponent.
