Akeem Scott has been named as the head coach of the Kentucky Christian University Knights following a stint as an assistant coach with the West Virginia State University Women’s Basketball Program.
In 2013-14 Coach Scott helped lead Asbury Lady Eagles to a 25-7 record, recording the most wins in team history as well as capturing KIAC Season title. In 2012-13, Coach Scott helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 23-10 record finishing third in regular season standings, going on to play in the KIAC Championship game for the second time in school history.
Prior to joining the Eagles staff in 2012, Scott was an assistant coach at Kentucky Christian University. In 2008 his team amassed an overall record of 15-18 and made an appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament. Two All-Americans for KCU played under Scott as an assistant. After leaving KCU, Scott Joined the Montgomery County High School (KY) staff as a Coach for three of the school’s Basketball programs. Scott assisted the Montgomery County Varsity programs in winning Back to Back Regional titles and advancing to the State Tournaments twice with an Elite Eight appearance.
Scott Received his MA in Information Technology Systems in 2009 from the University of Phoenix. Scott has also received his Bachelor’s Degree in University and Biblical Studies from Kentucky Christian University Where he played basketball after transferring from Campbellsville University. While at KCU, he became the third All-Time leading scorer with 2,100pts in three years averaging 24.3 points per season, His records at KCU include Most 3 pointers in a single game with 11, most 3’s in a single season 196, and he also became the fastest player to score 1,000 points in a single season. Scott went to three National Tournaments with KCU, advancing to Final four two of the three seasons. Scott was honored as First team All-American three times, as well as two time Regional Player of the year and Player of the Year Finalist.
After graduating from KCU, Scott played professional basketball for the Bluegrass Stallions, an ABA team under Head Coach Kyle Macy. Coach Scott currently resides in Institute, WV.
