According to a report by the Winston-Salem Journal, Cleo Hill, Jr. is expected to be named as the next head basketball coach at Winston Salem State. HoopDirt.com first mentioned Hil’s involvement here late last week (Daily Dirt – 5/18/18).
Hill, the son of WSSU legend Cleo Hill, Sr. (8th overall pick in 1961 NBA Draft), was the 2012 CIAA Coach of the Year at Shaw, and also spent five seasons at Cheney University (PA). A press conference has been scheduled for 3:00pm on Monday to make the announcement.
According to our sources, Hill beat out Charleston Southern assistant head coach Rick Duckett, current WSSU assistant Andrew Brown, and a current MEAC coach for the position.
More on this one tomorrow when it becomes official.
