Andrew Holmes enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Regis College men’s basketball program.
Originally from Niskayuna, N.Y., Holmes was a four-year letter winner at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. He appeared in a total of 94 games during his collegiate career. In his senior season of 2017-18, he started 24 of 26 games, averaging 8.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He led the team in free throw shooting percentage at 80.4 percent, plus he shot a career-best 47.3 percent from the field. He reached double figures in scoring 11 times, with a season-high of 19 points at St. Joseph’s (L.I.) on Feb. 17, 2018.
Named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll, Holmes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in sports management. He was a player development intern with the Dallas Mavericks from August 2018 to April 2019 before returning to the East Coast as a basketball skills trainer with 3D Athletics in Holbrook, N.Y., over the past three months.
