The primary objective of the position is the development of the “Red Shirt” athlete program for students wanting to participate in intercollegiate athletics.

Essential Duties:

1. Coaching the “Developmental (Red Shirt) Sports Team”.
2. Evaluating students/players based on progress made in the following areas: academic performance, citizenship, athletic ability, and work ethic.
3. Recruiting students/players to Blinn College from area high schools including corresponding with targeted students/players, their coaches and parents.
4. Assisting the head coach and assistant coaches in training, sports events, practices, and assessment of performance of the intercollegiate team and red shirt athletes.
5. Assisting in the analysis of the scouting report, tendencies, formulation, and stat input for each week’s opponent
6. Assisting incoming freshman with any and all procedures for admitting and enrolling at the College.
7. Monitoring academic progress and study sessions of student athletes.
8. Supervising the student athletes on the practice field and in the weight room.
9. Providing major input in deciding which Red Shirt athletes to promote to the intercollegiate team.
10. Performs duties with the Blinn College Men’s Basketball team as assigned by the head coach.
11. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Knowledge of special populations to be served, higher education, and academic practices highly preferred.
3.  Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and writing skills)
4. Computer technology skills required.
5. Junior College/ D1 or Professional playing or coaching experience.
6. Regional familiarity required
7. Familiarity with incoming and outgoing recruiting process of a Junior College athlete.
8. Understanding of the rules and regulations of the NJCAA
9. High school scouting/recruiting experience required
10. Understanding of the NJCAA recruiting rules and regulations
