Notre Dame College men’s basketball head coach Mark Richmond has named Duncan Williams as his assistant coach. Williams joins the team after eight seasons with Alderson Broaddus.

“I am very excited to add a coach of Duncan’s caliber to our program,” Richmond said. “We have known each other for over 25 years, dating back to childhood. He is extremely well respected for his ability to develop players and has an excellent feel for the game and the student-athlete. He will bring a ton of energy and experience to Notre Dame.”

Richmond, who was named the head coach in July, filled his need for an assistant coach with one of the most successful assistant coaches in the country. At Alderson Broaddus, Williams won four different Great Midwest Athletic Conference championships while the team amassed a 166-92 record.

Williams also recruited and coached 19 All-Conference players, including nine First Team All-GMAC as well as two conference players of the year and a regional player of the year.

Prior to arriving at AB, Williams spent two season as the Assistant Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach at Hedgesville High School where the program set several school records and finished with win-loss totals of 42-5 (2009-10) and 56-7 (2010-11).

Williams began his collegiate playing career at Winthrop University, where he played soccer, before transferring to Shepherd University before his junior year. At Shepherd, Williams played both basketball and soccer, serving as the captain for the men’s basketball team during the 2006-07 season and captain of the men’s soccer team during the 2008 season. He graduated in 2009 with a BA in Business Management and also earned a Master’s in Athletic Administration from West Virginia University.
