Patrick Zipfel has resigned as head coach of the Mansfield University men’s basketball program to return to the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Pat will be greatly missed by the athletic staff and his student-athletes,” said Interim Director of Athletics Kris Decker. “We wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors in the NBA.”
In three seasons as head coach of the program, Zipfel had a student-athlete earn PSAC East or ECAC Division II Player of the Week recognition four times and coached three All-PSAC East selections. In the classroom, Zipfel oversaw an improvement of the team GPA each year and had a 100% graduation rate of recruited student-athletes.
“We are actively working to quickly identify a successor to the men’s basketball program,” stated Decker.
