Following on something that I mentioned back on December 19…

I can confirm that the College of Southern Nevada will begin playing men’s and women’s basketball next season. They intend to compete in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (NJCAA D1). Southern Nevada last had basketball during the 2002-03 season.

It also sounds like veteran JUCO coach Russ Beck will be tabbed as their new head coach. Beck had served as the head coach at Western Nebraska CC from 2009-16. He also worked as a JUCO assistant at Dixie State College, Salt Lake Community College, and the College of Southern Idaho. Beck also spent one season as an assistant at the NCAA division I level at Southern Utah University.

Beck is currently on staff at the school, serving as the academic advisor for athletics.
