Following up on HoopDirt.com’s D2 DIRT from earlier today. Colorado Christian has made it official by announcing that they have parted ways with head men’s basketball Jeff Hironaka. The statement released by the college is below:
Colorado Christian will begin a national search for a new men’s basketball head coach. Effective immediately Jeff Hironaka will no longer be with the university.
“I’d like to thank coach Hironaka for his leadership during his time as head coach. “We wish him the best on his future endeavors,” Colorado Christian athletics director Brian Wall said. “Our department will begin a national search immediately to find our next head coach. We are committed to recruiting the right players to compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while creating a program in which players are inspired to know God more intimately.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity given to me at Colorado Christian. Unfortunately, the program wasn’t able to move forward and produce enough positive results during my time as head coach,” Hironaka said. “I hope that I was able to care for, and influence, the young men on this team in a positive manner.”
Hironaka spent three seasons as the head coach of the program. During his tenure the Cougars compiled a 16-68 overall record with a 13-53 mark in RMAC contests.
