Worley named Men’s Basketball Director of Player Development at Nevada

University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach Steve Alford has hired Glen Worley as the new director of player development for the Wolf Pack.  Worley fills the vacancy left after Kory Alford was named the head coach at Huntington University.

“I truly enjoyed coaching Glen at Iowa,” Alford said.  “He was a great player and teammate. His experience at a high level in both of those areas will benefit our team and program in numerous ways.”

“I am blessed to be a part of the Wolf Pack family,” Worley said. “This is a blessing to be a part of such great tradition here at Nevada.” 
Worley was a four-year letter winner at Iowa playing for coach Alford.  The Iowa City native earned third-team All-Big Ten honors and was a three-year starter for the Hawkeyes.  He is one of 45 players to score of 1,000 points in his career at Iowa and ranks in the top 10 on the Hawkeyes blocks list.  He helped the Hawkeyes reach postseason four consecutive seasons and win their first-ever Big 10 tournament title.

As a prep star at Iowa West High School he was name Mr. Basketball in Iowa, the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year, USA Today Player of the Year and was selected to the USA Today All-America team.  He helped West High School captured four consecutive conference titles.

Worley was teaching at Ideate High Academy in San Diego prior to accepting the position at Nevada and recently was an assistant girls basketball coach at Mater Dei Catholic in Chula Vista, Calif.   The team posted a 20-10 record and reached the regional semifinals.  Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Fullerton College in Fullerton, Calif.  He also worked as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Worley spent three seasons at Serra High School in San Diego as the varsity head boys basketball coach.  The team posted a 47-37 record in his three seasons and captured the 2014 Eastern League Championship.  For two years he was the head varsity and assistant boys basketball coach at Lincoln High School in San Diego where he helped the team to consecutive CIF San Diego Section Division II Championships and a top 10 USA ranking.  The team won two Western League Championships, going undefeated both years.  In 2010 LHS won the SoCal Regional and in 2011 were the No. 1 ranked team in California.  The 2010 squad captured the state title.

After his college career he played professional basketball for three seasons in Australia, Venezuela, Ireland, Belgium and Tijuana.
