Head Coach Frank Marcinek has announced the selection of Evan Fisher as an assistant coach for the Susquehanna University men’s basketball program.
Fisher arrives at Susquehanna following a year as a member of the professional basketball team, Vaerlose Basketball Club, Horsholm, Denmark. The 6-9 forward earned Basketligaen All-Import First Team honors after leading Vaerlose, which competes in Basketligaen, the highest tier of basketball in Denmark, in player efficiency and rebounding.
“I am really excited to welcome Evan to the Susquehanna men’s basketball family. After completing an outstanding playing career, Evan is prepared to take the first step in his coaching career. I really believe he is a great addition to our program,” Marcinek said.
T.J. Jordan, a former SU assistant men’s basketball coach and current head varsity boys’ basketball coach at Fisher’s alma mater, McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, steered Fisher to the opening on Marcinek’s staff. Jordan served on Marcinek’s coaching staff during the 2009-10 season. Although Jordan did not coach Fisher at McDonogh, he was instrumental in guiding Fisher to Susquehanna.
Marcinek added that the Pasadena, Maryland, native will be responsible for coaching Susquehanna’s post players, along with being heavily involved with recruiting as Fisher brings strong connections within the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and the state of Maryland to the fold.
Fisher played his college ball at NCAA Division I Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. He helped Siena, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), to an appearance in the 2016 College Basketball Invitational as a first-year and in the 2017 MAAC Championship game.
He picked up 2019 All-MAAC Second Team honors after ranking second in the conference in field goal percentage (.497), fifth in scoring with 16.2 points per game and seventh in rebounding with a 6.0 average.
Fisher graduated from Siena in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in management with a concentration in human resource development.
