EWU’s Legans to be named Head Coach at Portland

I can confirm multiple reports that Eastern Washington’s Shantay Legans will become the next head coach at Portland.

Legans led EWU to the Big Sky Championship this past season, with a 16-8 (12-3) record. The Eagles lost to Kansas 93-84 on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In his four seasons at EWU, Legans has gone 75-49 (.605). Legans, who played at Cal, had been an assistant at Eastern Washington before taking over as the head coach.

It sounds like he will ink a four-year deal with a fifth-year option.

Legans will replace Terry Porter, who was fired back on 2/5 after going a 43-103 five seasons.

More on this when it becomes official.
