Position Summary

To uphold the standards of the university and the athletics department, complying with the mission of both. To provide leadership and direction to a program in pursuit of championships. To fully support student-athletes in their academic endeavors. To ensure that student-athletes are provided with the necessary experiences so that upon graduation, they are able to successfully pursue their chosen profession. To engage with stakeholders, both on and off campus, in order to represent the university and department in a positive manner.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Skills or competencies related to the sport through previous playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion in the instruction and coaching of student-athletes in individual skill instruction and small group sessions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities gained through prior playing and/or coaching experience;
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small and large group discussions;
  • Strong proficiency in a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook),and the ability to utilize the latest advances in technology.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous playing and/or coaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience.
