Southeastern University Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin Lubbers promoted Randy Lee to a full-time position as an assistant coach on his staff for the coming season.
Lee enters his 29th year coaching basketball this season with 22 of those at the collegiate level which includes six at Southeastern in two different stints. Twice, Lee has been on staff when the Fire won The Sun Conference tournament and appeared in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
“Randy has had a fingerprint on much of the success of Fire basketball over the last several years,” said Lubbers. “His commitment on and off the court to our guys, his loyalty, and his tireless work ethic are on display daily. Randy has a hunger to see this program continue to succeed on the court and see the lives of the young men in our program transformed during their time at SEU and beyond. I am excited to see the additional impact he can have with this promotion.”
In addition to his work at SEU last season, Lee was the head coach at Vanguard School where he was named district coach of the year and led the team to the playoffs.
“I am extremely humbled and honored to become a full-time assistant coach at Southeastern University,” said Lee. “I extend gratitude to Kevin Lubbers and Drew Watson for the opportunity to further commit myself to the program, the institution, and the greater community. Further, I want to thank former head coach, R-Jay Barsh, for hiring me in 2015 as his assistant. I look forward to continuing to build champions on and off the court.”
At the collegiate level, Lee has been a head coach at Tennessee Temple, University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and Maine at Machias. He has also worked as an assistant at Towson, Delaware State, Centenary, and Maine. Lee also served as a graduate assistant at Miami under current Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton.
From 2012 to 2015, Lee led Lake Wales to two district titles. The Fire are coming off of a 12-17 record during the 2020-21 season.
