Adam Ginsburg has been hired as an Assistant Coach of the New York University men’s basketball team.
Possessing a great deal of collegiate and high school coaching experience, Ginsburg joins the Violets after most recently serving three seasons as Head Coach of the Hopkins Academy (Hadley, MA) High School Boys’ Basketball Team. His teams went 30-20 overall and captured the Hampshire League Championship in 2019-20 when he was named Division 4 Western Massachusetts Coach of the Year.
“Adam is a complete coach and we are ecstatic to add him to our staff!” said NYU Head Coach Dagan Nelson. “His elite relationship-building skills combined with his many years of successful program-building at both the college and high school levels along with his vast technical knowledge will be of tremendous benefit to our program. Adam will be a wonderful mentor to our current and future student-athletes.”
A 1997 State University of New York at Buffalo graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Ginsburg went on to earn a Master’s of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences from the University of Florida in 1999.
While at Florida, Ginsburg began his coaching career as a Graduate Student Assistant with the Gators, who advanced to the NCAA Division I Sweet Sixteen in 1999. He then went on to an assistant coaching job at Towson University (1999-2001) before leaving for Northeastern University as an assistant (2001-04) and then associate (2004-05) head coach.
Ginsburg’s longest stay was as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts (2005-17), where the program earned an NCAA Tournament bid (2014), won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship (2007) and made four NIT appearances (2007-8, 2012-13).
Ginsburg went on to become an assistant coach at Iona College (2017-18), where he helped lead the Gaels to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament Championship and automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
“I am thrilled with the opportunity to work at NYU on Coach Nelson’s staff,” Ginsburg said. “I am looking forward to being a part of the NYU community as well as working with our current and future student-athletes.”
A native of Baldwin, NY, Ginsburg also served one season as the Junior Boys’ Head Coach for Maccabi USA.
