University of West Alabama Head Coach Nick Woodruff announced the promotion of Jake Jobling, and the addition Trey Moore to his men’s basketball staff.
The West Alabama men’s basketball team has named the former graduate assistant and UWA basketball player Jake Jobling as the next assistant coach. The new position comes to Jobling after holding the role of graduate assistant for one season.
“Being able to promote Jake is a pleasure that he has earned from day one,” said head coach Nick Woodruff. “He is a tireless worker, a basketball junkie, and a true student of the game. He is a great example to all the players that come through our program. I tell them all the time the goal is to get a degree and hang a banner. Jake did both of those here at UWA and can continue to help lead the young men in our program. Our student-athletes, program, and university are going to benefit with the promotion of Jake.”
At UWA, the native of Canberra, Australia, played all four years from 2015-2019 and finished fourth all-time in three-pointers made with 166, third with 463 threes attempted, and third in free throw percentage at 84.8 percent. He also tied for most games played in the program with 110. The 6-foot-2 guard finished his Tiger tenure with 658 total points. He was on the 2019 GSC Academic Honor Roll.
In his final season at UWA, Jobling was a part of the conference championship winning team during the 2018-19 season, setting a school record with 23 wins.
His coaching experience includes stints at the Canberra Grammar School, the Canberra Girls Grammar School, the ACT School Basketball Clinic, Swish City Private Skill Development/Shooting Clinic, Joondalup Wolves School Basketball Clinic, Joondalup Wolves WABL, and Joondalup Wolves Junior Player Development.
Upon graduating from UWA, Jobling was contracted to play for the Joondalup Wolves of the Wanneroo Basketball Association.
The Nebraska native has over 10 years of experience in the game and will serve as a graduate assistant on the Tiger staff.
“We are excited to add Trey to our staff at UWA,” said Woodruff. “He comes from a basketball background and it showed from the first time I spoke with him. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the game and will have a terrific impact on our program.”
Moore joins West Alabama after spending one season as the head junior varsity coach and an assistant varsity coach at Papillion La Vista High School in Omaha, Neb. In those roles, Moore assisted with developing and implementing practice plans, communicating with athletes, and reviewing game film to create scouting reports.
Before Papillion La Vista, Moore spent a season as the assistant coach of the Adams State University men’s basketball program, a season on the Dickinson State University staff, and has almost 10 years of experience as a personal basketball trainer.
Moore graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. with a 3.5 GPA and a degree in exercise science.
