According to a report by Jon Rothstein, Washington State is finalizing a deal with San Francisco’s Kyle Smith to become Cougars next head basketball coach.
Smith led the Dons to a 21-10 (9-7 WCC) record this past season. The head coach at USF since 2016, Smith owns a 63-40 record at the school, and has won 20+ games in each of his three campaigns.
Before coming to San Francisco, Smith spent six seasons as the head coach at Columbia (101-82). Before becoming a head coach, Smith spent 18 seasons as an assistant coach on the NCAA Division I level, including nine seasons (2001-10) at Saint Mary’s College, one season at Air Force (2000-01) and eight years at the University of San Diego (1992-2000).
More on this when it becomes official.
