After spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Bowdoin, Felix Abongo was named director of basketball operations by Boston University men’s basketball head coach Joe Jones.
During his tenure with the Polar Bears, Abongo added on the title of director of recruiting in 2021. He graduated from Clarkson with a degree in business in 2016 and returned to the Golden Knights for the 2017-18 season as an assistant coach. Before stepping in as the top assistant, he worked in the diversity initiatives department as a program coordinator for student diversity and inclusion programs.
“We are extremely happy to announce the hiring of Felix Abongo as our new director of basketball operations,” said Jones. “I feel that Felix is ready to take on this very important position in our organization, and we simply can’t wait to get started.”
While a student-athlete at Clarkson, he was a three-time Liberty League All-Star and the 2016 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year after earning All-Rookie Team honors in 2012-13. He graduated as the only player in program history to rank in the top 10 all-time in scoring (1,304 points, 8th all-time), rebounds (678, 7th) and assists (280, 8th) while also ranking ninth in blocks (53). He averaged 12.7 ppg and 6.6 rpg over the course of 103 contests.
