University of Montevallo men’s basketball head coach Danny Young announced Thursday the hiring of Jabarr Adams as his assistant coach. Adams comes to Montevallo after spending the last four seasons as assistant coach at Tarleton State University.
Adams most recently has coached at Tarleton State University a NCAA Division II and Lone Star Conference member. He helped lead the Texans to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and saw the team capture the 2011-12 Lone Star Conference Championship. The Texans have ranked first in the country the past two seasons in points allowed per game and have a combined record of 93-28 over the past four seasons. He has helped develop four players who have gone on to play professionally overseas. He was a part of all aspects of the program including recruiting, on court coaching and academic advising. He served as the director of team travel, scheduling and film exchange.
Prior to TSU, Adams spent two seasons as an assistant coach at UNC Pembroke. He also played two seasons at UNCP where he earned the Joe Gallagher Captain Award in 2006 and the Lacey Gane “Mr. Plus” Award in 2004.
