Life University head men’s basketball coach Keith Adkins has announced that he will be moving forward in his professional career, Wednesday morning.

Adkins has been at the helm of the Running Eagles program for the last two seasons and has taken the team to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament in both years. In his first year on campus, Life University finished as the National Runner-up.

When speaking of his time here on campus, Adkins had this to say, “It has been a privilege to be the head men’s basketball coach at Life University. I have had the opportunity, over the past two years, to develop many new friendships and relationships and I am grateful for the chance to be a part of this great place. But, at this point in my career, it is important for me to pursue opportunities that are closer to my family. I especially want to thank Athletics Director Jayme Pendergast. This athletic department has experienced some incredible growth under her guidance over the two years that I was here. I was fortunate to coach a lot of great student athletes in the previous two seasons. Together we were able to put Life University men’s basketball back on the NAIA map. I hope those guys got as much out their time with me, as I did with them. I will miss them, greatly.”

Athletics Director Jayme Pendergast also thanked Adkins for his efforts saying, “I sincerely appreciate all of Keith’s time, effort, and leadership over the last two years.  It’s our mission to hire a head coach that will continue to move Life University basketball forward nationally within the NAIA and will place an equal emphasis on student-athlete performance in the classroom.”

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately, and all interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Mrs. Pendergast at [email protected] or at 770-426-2858.
