The Air Force men’s basketball program has named Joseph Kuhl assistant coach/video coordinator, according to an announcement today from head coach Dave Pilipovich.
Kuhl comes to the Academy after spending last season as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs’ developmental-league team, the Austin Spurs, where he was responsible for the creation of opponent scouts, player development, overseeing the video department, as well as coordinating the team’s day to day operations and all aspects of team travel. Prior to last season, Kuhl was a video quality assurance assistant for the Spurs for four seasons helping the coaching staff in all aspects, as well as running the video department.
During his time with the Austin Spurs Kuhl worked closely with former Falcon, Daniel Nwaelele, as well as NBA players such as Jonathon Simmons, Bryn Forbes, Dejounte Murray, Ryan Arcidiacono, Davis Bertans, JaMychal Green and Patricio Garino.
Kuhl has been active with USA Basketball support staff helping with all aspects of video operations for the U-18 and U-16 team’s during the summers of 2015 and 2016. He also served as the offensive clinician with the Snow Valley Basketball School in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 2016. Kuhl has also worked as a varsity summer high school basketball coach for the CenTex Attack basketball program in 2014.
Kuhl is a 2015 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor’s in history, a minor in government, and was a member of the U-Teach Liberal Arts program.
