After much deliberation, Clark College (WA) coach Alex Kirk has decided to step down from his head coaching responsibilities for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Coach Kirk states “At this time, we feel it’s in the best interest of our family for me to step down as head coach of the men’s basketball team for the current season.”
Assistant coach, Kevin Johnson, has been named Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Coach Johnson has been coaching basketball for over 20 years and the Athletic Department is honored and excited to have such a qualified coach to fill Coach Kirk’s role for the remainder of the season.
In his three plus seasons as the head coach at Clark, Kirk has compiled 91-30 record (3-2 so far this season). His squad won the Northwest Athletic Conference championship in 2015 and are two-time defending NWAC South Division champions.
