Cloud County Community College athletic director Matt Bechard has announced a change in leadership of the Cloud County Community College men’s basketball program. Jordan Altman will not have his contract renewed and has been relieved of his duties as head coach after three-plus seasons.
Current CCCC assistant men’s basketball coach Taylor Jones will assume the role of interim head coach for the conclusion of 2020-21 season, while current Cloud County Instructor of Social Sciences Kevin Pounds will serve as interim assistant coach for the remainder of the season. The regular-season has four games remaining beginning Wednesday night at Independence Community College along with postseason competition.
“I want to thank coach Altman for his time and commitment to the program and wish him only the best in his future plans,” said Bechard.
During his three-plus years at the helm of the T-Birds, Altman would coach Cloud County to a 32-73 overall record while hosting one NJCAA Region VI home playoff game. In his second season with the T-Birds, Altman would take CCCC from a 6-24 mark in his first year to improve to 16-15 overall and finish third in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division.
In total, Altman would send 15 players to four-year programs which included three to NCAA Division I programs (Ramion Burt Jr. – Fort Wayne, Breyon Jackson – Long Beach State, and Iyen Enaruna – Evansville). Four players would be named All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (Alvin Thompson, Edoardo Del Cadia, Iyen Enaruna, and Jay Lewis) with Thompson, Del Cadia, and Lewis earning at least one KJCCC Player of the Week Award during their time with the T-Birds.
A search for the vacant head coaching position will begin immediately.
