I can confirm that Arizona State assistant Scott Pera has departed for the University of Pennsylvania. He will become the top assistant for the Quakers, replacing assistant Dan Leibovitz who recently took a job with the Charlotte Bobcats. He is the second assistant to leave ASU in the past few days – Lamont Smith was named as an assistant at the University of Washington on Friday. With the season rapidly approaching, ASU head coach Herb Sendek now has two positions to fill. Some names that I’ve heard as possible candidates are: former Miami (OH) assistant Jason Grunkenmeyer, former Nebraska assistant Chris Croft, former Central Michigan head coach Ernie Zeigler, and former Northern Arizona head coach Mike Adras. I have also heard that current DBO Robert Spence may be bumped up to an assistant spot. I would expect Sendek to move quickly to fill these positions – I will keep you updated as I hear more.
