According to great sources, Assumption College (MA) is prepared to announce their next head coach with in the next day or two. I can confirm that the three finalists are Quinnipiac assistant Eric Eaton, Rhode Island College head coach Bob Walsh, and Chaminade head coach Matt Mahar. According to my source, Walsh was offered the job. I’m not sure what happened after that, but he is apparently not going to be the coach. It sounds like Mahar is getting the job. He is the son of Buddy Mahar (former head coach at Columbia and Johnson State) and is 101-64 in six seasons at Chaminade. It sounds like this is a done deal, but this is what some thought when it was offered to Walsh. Stay tuned on this one……..

Our source was right – Mahar got the job at Assumption this afternoon. That’s 2 for 2 this week – I also correctly had Shenandoah two days before it was announced. Here’s a link to the official Assumption release:
