Austin Peay assistant resigns

Bret Campbell, who spent two tenures as an Austin Peay State University basketball assistant, has announced his resignation to "pursue other professional opportunities."

Campbell rejoined APSU as an assistant in Fall 2010 after previously serving as an assistant from 1992-97. In between he served as head coach at UT Martin from 1999-2009, including leading the Skyhawks to the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference championship, and director of basketball operation at Murray State in 2009-10.

"We appreciate Bret’s efforts and contributions to Austin Peay basketball," APSU coach Dave Loos said. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Loos has indicated no timetable has been set in seeking Campbell’s replacement. He and current assistants Corey Gipson and Bubba Wells will be out on the recruiting trail much of July.
