With the departure of Bubba Wells from the Austin Peay staff earlier this week, rumors are swirling about his possible replacement.  The “hot” name right now is Martin Methodist head coach Scott Combs.  This past season, his team went 30-5 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA DI National Tournament.  McCombs is a former player and assistant for current head coach Dave Loos at Austin Peay.  After his graduation in 1999, McCombs spent 13 seasons on Loos staff before taking over at Martin Methodist in 2012.  There have also been rumors that this could be a “coach-in-waiting” type deal.  More on this as I hear it.
