The search to replace Dave Loos at Austin Peay is ramping up, with on-campus interviews underway.
I have now heard from multiple sources that VCU assistant coach Wes Long interviewed yesterday. Word on the street is that Long is option #1, and is weighing his options now that Will Wade has departed VCU for LSU.
I have also heard that if it doesn’t pan out with Long, the next tier to be interviewed would be SIU Edwardsville assistant Bubba Wells, and Martin Methodist head coach Scott Combs. Both are former APSU players and have served as assistant coaches under Dave Loos.
Finally, if it gets to the next tier, the coaches on that list are reportedly long-time Belmont associate head coach Bryan Ayers, and current Governors assistant head coach Jay Bowen.
I have also heard that AD Ryan Ivey has been very active in this search, and is still calling around on guys.
More on this search as I hear it.
