Monday’s rumors……

A few quick rumors to start the week….. I’ve heard that Providence has made contact with Illinois-Springfield head coach Kevin Gamble about a spot on the Friars staff. Gamble played for PC head coach Keno Davis’ dad (Dr. Tom) at Iowa, and then spent some time in the NBA with the Celtics, Heat, and Kings.

Rochester Hires Coach

Skidmore head coach Luke Flockerzi will be named the next head coach at the University of Rochester. In 3 seasons at Skidmore Flockerzi has posted an overall record of 30-46. Prior to becoming a head coach he was an assistant under David Hixon of Amherst and Mike Neer of Rochester.

Robert Morris Hires Toole

Multiple sources are reporting that Robert Morris will promote Andy Toole. At 29, Toole will become the youngest Division I men’s basketball coach, supplanting Appalachian State’s Jason Capel, who is 30. A press conference is scheduled for 3pm tomorrow.

Calhoun Press Conference

UConn has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow at 10:45am to announce a new deal for head coach Jim Calhoun. The deal is said to be 5-years and worth $13 million.

Mount St. Mary’s Hires Burke

Mount St. Mary’s has hired American assistant Rob Burke as its new head coach. Prior to American, Burke was an assistant for five seasons at Georgetown. Mount St. Mary’s will formally introduce Burke at a news conference Monday at 2 p.m.
