Desmond Balentine has been promoted to Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Tiffin University.

Balentine was instrumental in assisting Head Coach Tom Church as the Dragons had a memorable 2022-23 season. The Dragons ended with a final record of 15-14, their first winning season since 2011-12. The team also posted a 12-8 conference record, the most conference wins in school history, and reached the conference playoffs for the first time in 21 seasons. 

After a collegiate playing career at Incarnate Word, Balentine served as a Graduate Assistant coach there prior to coming to Tiffin. Last year marked his first season with the Dragons’ program.

“Des is one of the most talented assistants in Division II basketball.  He is extremely loyal, hard-working and was instrumental in our success this past season.  Des is a relentless recruiter, passionate about the game, and helped raise the bar within our basketball program.  He has an extremely bright future and our players and I are fortunate that he is part of our program here at TU,” said Church.
