Banks Resigns as Head Basketball Coach at Delaware Tech

Larry Banks has resigned as the head men’s basketball coach at Delaware Technical Community College after ten years of service.

Banks served as the Associate Head Coach for the Del Tech women’s basketball program under Jim Kane for two years before moving over to the men side after Ron Burgess retired after thirty years.  In his first year as head coach in 2009-10, Banks won the Region 19 championship, District Championship and qualified for the National Tournament (NJCAA) with only seven players.  He was also awarded Coach of the year for Region 19 Conference as well as District 11 Coach of the year and became one of the top recruiters in the area.

Under Banks direction, the Men’s program made the conference playoff six out of eight years and made the playoff’s for the women’s team both years he was the Associate Head Coach.  Coach Banks and his teams also served their community as they volunteered for the Volleyball Special Olympics.  Coach Banks would like to thank his coaching staff (Anthony Horne, Six Watson and Tommy Vaughn) and the Del Tech family for given him the opportunity and wish them well.
