Barlow named Head Basketball Coach at Colorado Northwestern CC

Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) is proud to announce the hiring of Jaxon Barlow as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach. A former Spartan student-athlete with deep ties to the program and region, Barlow brings energy, experience, and a clear vision for the future of CNCC Men’s Basketball.

Barlow returns to Rangely after serving as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Northeastern Junior College, where he developed a strong reputation as a recruiter, relationship builder, and player development specialist. His passion for the game and his ability to connect with student-athletes have made him a rising star in the coaching ranks.

“Bringing Coach Barlow back to CNCC is an exciting moment for our program,” said Athletic Director Zach Stevenson. “As an alum, he understands the unique culture and community here, and he’s the right leader to take us into this next chapter. His work ethic, basketball IQ, and ability to inspire young men make him a great fit for our college and for Spartan Basketball.”

Barlow is a former Spartan student-athlete himself, and his personal journey—from suiting up on the court in Rangely to now leading the program—underscores his commitment to the institution and its mission. Known for his relentless energy and positive culture-building, Barlow is focused on continuing the program’s momentum while developing high-character student-athletes.

“This is truly a full-circle moment,” said Barlow. “CNCC means so much to me, and I’m honored and humbled to come back and lead this program. I’m ready to get to work—recruiting, developing our players, and building something special here. We’re going to compete the right way, play with toughness, and represent our college with pride.”

Barlow officially begins his duties on July 1, 2025, and recruiting is already underway as the Spartans prepare for the 2025–26 season.
