Baruch College staff update

Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Alesi ’03 has announced his coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season that will begin on Friday, November 16, at the Radisson Scranton Invitational with a season-opening game against York College of Pennsylvania.

Alesi, beginning his first season at Baruch after serving as an Associate Head Coach during 2011-12, has named three Assistant Coaches and a Director of Basketball Operations seeking to bring the basketball program to national prominence.

Gary Siano ’96, who is no stranger to the men’s basketball team after serving the previous 15 years as an assistant coach to Ray Rankis, will return for his 16th season on the staff. Gary will be involved in all facets of the program from recruiting to scouting to working with guards/forwards.

Tammer Farid ’11, another alum who played for Baruch and scored 1,322 career points, will begin his first season as an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer during 2011-12. Farid, who is part-owner of the basketball app called “OneBasketball”, will be involved in all areas of the program, including recruiting along with strength and conditioning.

Victor Jackson, a former Div. I basketball player at Manhattan College, will begin his first season as assistant coach for the Bearcats. Jackson’s responsibility will vary from recruiting to scouting to academic monitoring.

Calvin Jurewicz-Johnson ’12, who graduated this past summer from Baruch, has been named the program’s first-ever Director of Basketball Operations. Calvin will be involved with tape exchange, coordinating team managers, team travel, and helping administer the program’s social media (twitter, facebook, etc.) presence.
