Basketball Staff Changes made at Pitt

Pitt head coach Jeff Capel has made two changes to his staff heading into next season, as assistants Jason Capel and Tim O’Toole will not return for the 2026-27 campaign.

The moves come on the heels of a 13-20 (5-13 ACC) season and follow AD Allen Greene’s recent comments about evaluating all areas of the program. Capel, who will return for his 9th year at the helm, had maintained the same core staff since his arrival in 2018, with both assistants working alongside Milan Brown for the duration of his tenure.

O’Toole, the program’s associate head coach, brought extensive experience with previous stops at Syracuse, Duke, Cal, Stanford, and Fairfield. Jason Capel, Jeff’s younger brother, added head coaching experience from his time at Appalachian State (2010-14).

With just one NCAA Tournament appearance in the past decade, expectations are mounting in Pittsburgh, and this move signals the start of a critical offseason as Capel looks to reshape his staff and move the program forward.
