Benedictine at Springfield (IL) will shut down their athletics department at the end of the spring semester. This would put head basketball coach Ian McKeithen out of a job. McKeithen has been the head coach at BenU Springfield for the past three seasons. He has also been an assistant at Iowa Wesleyan, and Dakota State.
On the flip side, Benedictine University at Mesa (AZ) will add men’s basketball. They started their athletics program this fall with men’s and women’s golf, cross country, volleyball and tennis. Along with basketball, softball will be added next season. It sounds like the search for a basketball coach is underway – I wonder if McKeithen will be in the mix…
