Bensman resigns as Head Basketball Coach at D3 Ohio Northern

 Rich Bensman has stepped down as the head men’s basketball coach at Ohio Northern.

In six seasons at the helm, Bensman guided the Polar Bears to a 66-75 record, a winning percentage of .468.

He helped ONU to a 19-9 record in 2017-18 and his teams reached the championship game of the OAC Tournament in 2017-18 and 2020-21.

“I am very appreciative of my time as head coach at Ohio Northern,” Bensman said. “It will always have a good spot in my heart.”

“We thank Rich for six years of commitment to our student-athletes, the athletic department and the university,” ONU Tom Simmons said. “We wish him the best in all future endeavors.”

A nationwide search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
