Bowling Green State University men’s basketball head coach Chris Jans has named Ohio native Jeff Clapacs as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Clapacs comes to BGSU after serving six seasons as an assistant coach with the Arkansas State basketball program, the last two alongside current Falcons’ assistant coach Corey Barker.
"We are pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Clapacs to our basketball program at BGSU," stated Coach Jans. "Coach Clapacs is the perfect fit to round out our staff. The fact Jeff is originally from Cleveland, played and coached in the state, and maintains relationships in Ohio excites us. Coach Clapacs’ wide ranging organizational ability and people skills will allow him to help elevate our program."
Clapacs spent the 2007-08 season at LSU as the Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator, helping oversee all areas of film, coordinating public relations for the Tigers, assisting with team travel, handling all equipment orders and inventory, as well as working as the director of basketball camps.
"I am very excited and appreciative to be joining the Bowling Green men’s basketball program," commented Clapacs. "I want to thank Coach Jans for this great opportunity to be a part of his staff. I look forward to working extremely hard in helping our student-athletes, coaches and this outstanding University in every way possible."
The Euclid, Ohio native graduated from The College of Wooster (Ohio) in May 2007 and after completing two seasons as a player with the Fighting Scots, he served an additional two years as a student assistant coach for one of the top NCAA Division III programs in the country.
Nationally-ranked Wooster compiled a 108-15 record during his four years with the Fighting Scots, including two NCAC Tournament Championships and a Final Four appearance in 2007.
Additionally, Clapacs worked as the Assistant to Operations Manager for Athletics at Wooster, specializing in event management. He has also served as a counselor at several well-known summer basketball camps, including LSU under Brady, Florida (Billy Donovan) and Duke (Mike Krzyzewski), along with camps conducted by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Clapacs earned his master’s degree in Sports Leadership from the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement at Duquesne University in August of 2010.
