College of the Redwoods has hired a new Head Men’s Basketball Coach. Ryan Bisio, the current Director of Athletics at St. Bernards High School, will take over the coaching position for the 2019-20 CR basketball season.
Bisio is a seasoned and dynamic basketball coach, who has coached at Santa Rosa Junior College, Arcata High School, the Branson School in Ross, California, and the Hvidovre Basketball Club in Denmark. Many of the teams Bisio has coached have reached league and conference championships. Bisio holds a Master’s degree from Concordia University in Irvine, and a Bachelor’s degree from CSU Monterey Bay.
“We are proud to introduce Ryan as our next Head Men’s Basketball coach” said Bob Brown, CR’s Director of Athletics. “Ryan has a strong coaching history of success, leadership and professionalism in this community at the high school level. He clearly demonstrated a plan and vision for leading the men’s program into the future. We look forward to him joining the Athletic and Kinesiology department staff.”
Bisio will replace Coach Aaron Hungerford, who left mid-season and was replaced temporarily by the CR women’s basketball coaching staff.
“I want to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Darren Turpin and Jain Tuey for stepping into the role as interim Head Coach and Interim Assistant Coach” said Bob Brown, CR’s Director of Athletics. “Darren did an outstanding job in leading the men’s team down the stretch and they each provided those students an extremely positive experience under a less than ideal circumstance. I look forward to each of them continuing their roles and the outstanding work that they each are doing for our women’s basketball program.”
