Some things that I’ve heard from the great state of Kentucky…
- I can confirm that Kentucky State head coach Darnell Williams has resigned. He had been an assistant for the Thorobreds since 2012, and took over as the head coach just before the 2015-16 season. KSC finished this season with an 11-14 (9-9) record. Williams played at Xavier from 1995-99. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in 1995-1996, First Team All-Atlantic 10 in 1997-98, and to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team in 1998. He is a member of Xavier’s 1,000 Point Club and was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American in 1997-1998. There is no word on why he resigned.
- Eastern Kentucky assistant coach Michael Bradley is no longer with the program. A former player at Kentucky and Villanova, Bradley joined the EKU staff shortly after head coach Dan McHale was hired last spring. Stay tuned on this one…
- A few days behind here, but Louisville head coach confirmed last week that Director of Basketball Operations David Padgett will be promoted to assistant coach to replace Ralph Willard. Padgett played for the Cardinals (05-08), and was an assistant at IUPUI before returning to Louisville back in 2014. Willard, a longtime friend and assistant to Pitino, will be retiring from basketball. In addition to his time with Pitino at Louisville, the pair also worked together at Kentucky and with the Knicks. Willard also served as the head coach at Western Kentucky, Pitt, and Holy Cross.
