The search to replace Pat Chambers at Boston University is underway. AD Mike Lynch is great at keeping things very close to the vest. During his last search two years ago, there were plenty of rumors, but not many involved Pat Chambers – he kept it pretty quiet until the final hours. Here are some things that I do know….Interim head coach Brian Daly will definitely be considered. His situation is similar to that of John Becker at Vermont. Becker was named interim head coach after Mike Lonergan departed for George Washington and after a national search, he came away with the job. If Daly does not get the job, he has a spot on Chambers staff at Penn State. I’ve heard a few names that have expressed interest in the job – Maryland assistant Scott Spinelli and Louisville assistant Walter McCarty. Spinelli is a BU alum who has been a high major assistant at Texas A&M, Nebraska, Wichita State, and Wyoming. McCarty is a former Celtic who was a very popular figure in Boston during his time with the Green. Louisville head coach Rick Pitino is definitely peddling him for the job. Other’s who may warrant some consideration here are Northeastern associate head coach Pat Duquette, Boston College associate head coach Joe Jones, Florida Atlantic associate head coach Mike Jarvis II, and former BC head coach Al Skinner. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. From what I’ve heard, Lynch wants to get this done ASAP. I’ll keep you updated as I hear more.
