The Bethany College Department of Athletics, Dean of Athletics Laura Moreno, and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dan O’Dowd announced that Brad Yoder has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Yoder returned to Bethany in April of 2019 to serve as an assistant coach for the Men’s Basketball program. In July 2020 he added the responsibilities of Sports Information Director. As an assistant coach Yoder helped the Men’s Basketball program rank #7 in the NAIA in turnover margin while also ranking #13 in steals per game this past season. Additionally, he has helped three student-athletes achieve All-KCAC recognition since his return while playing a key role in recruiting, scheduling, scouting, and skill development for the Men’s Basketball program.
“I am extremely happy for Brad Yoder to be promoted to Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This promotion signifies not only how valuable Brad is to our basketball program here at Bethany College, and to me personally, but also how respected he is by our college and athletic department administration.” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dan O’Dowd. “It is well-deserved that he is being rewarded for his tireless work ethic, his innovative and creative contributions to our program, and mostly, for his dedication and commitment to our players.”
Since becoming Sports Information Director Yoder has managed online ticket sales, updating the Bethany Athletics website, overseeing game day management of livestream and statistics for all athletic activities, nominating numerous athletes and staff for conference and national awards, and promoting the athletic department by overseeing the social media accounts for Bethany Athletics. Yoder has also helped to oversee summer projects to renovate the Bethany College Athletic complex with new artwork and imagery while also updating Bethany’s livestream equipment and capabilities.
“We are thrilled to promote Brad Yoder to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. Brad is a very valuable asset to our Athletic Department in many different ways. The amount of work he does on the sports information side is tremendous, and the daily impact he has on our Athletic Department and student-athletes is immeasurable. His promotion is well earned, and we are excited for him to continue to serve Bethany and our student-athletes in an expanded capacity.” said Dean of Athletics Laura Moreno.
Yoder was previously an assistant coach at Bethany during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. In between his stints at Bethany he served as the Director of Basketball Operations for Nicholls State University for the 2018-19 season.
He has also spent time as a Graduate Assistant and Student Assistant for the Men’s Basketball program at the University of Pikeville where he assisted the bears in reaching four straight NAIA National Tournaments and back to back regular season Mid-South Conference Championships.
