Brayden Carr Foundation Coaches Clinic

I originally posted this last month. Since it is a such an important event, I thought that I should get it up again (especially now that it is less than a month away)……

I wanted to pass along the info for the Brayden Carr Foundation’s Coaches Clinic on September 30th at Rutgers. For those of you who have not followed this story, Brayden is the late son of Rutgers Director of Basketball Operations Jim Carr. Brayden was an adorable, courageous two and a half year old boy who battled seizures and resulting medical conditions most of his beautiful, but much too short, life. He passed away this May, and the Carr Family has started the foundation to honor their son’s indomitable spirit and infectious enthusiasm for life through positive endeavors. By way of service projects and fundraising ventures, they hope to provide athletic, social, rehabilitative, and academic opportunities to children with seizure conditions, with or without motor delays from associated cerebral palsy, as well as provide humanitarian support/relief to their parents.

This star-studded clinic is one of those ventures. The line-up includes:

Larry Brown, NBA Hall of Fame coach

Jeff Van Gundy, ESPN/ABC Analyst and former NBA Coach of the Year

John Calipari, Head Coach of the Kentucky Wildcats

Bill Self, Head Coach of the Kansas Jayhawks

Bob Hurley, Head Coach of St. Anthony Friars and Naismith Hall of Famer

Mike Rice, Head Coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

This is an amazing clinic for an amazing organization. The money raised from this event will go directly into a fund to help put smiles on many kids’ faces.

I would like to get as many of our readers to attend this clinic as possible. Not only is it a tremendous opportunity to learn from some of the best basketball minds in the game today, it is a great way to support a very worthy cause. I know that I will be attending and I am very excited to do so.

On a personal note, I first met Coach Carr in 1995 when I was working camp at Eastern Invitational. He is one of the good guys in this business and I will do whatever I can to support the Brayden Carr Foundation. Please tweet and re-tweet about this event after you read this so we can all help to get the word out. I will continue to post updates about the clinic as it gets closer.
