The Arkansas State Athletics Department has announced it will hold a 10:00 a.m. (CT) press conference Monday, March 20, announcing Mike Balado as its new head men’s basketball coach.  The press conference will be held on the Arkansas State University campus at the Convocation Center auditorium.

The press conference is open to working media and the public, and it will be streamed lived on the A-State Athletics Department’s Facebook page (AStateRedWolves) and Twitter account (@AStateRedWolves).  Those attending the press conference should enter at the Convocation Center’s lower red entrance to gain access to the auditorium.

Including the 2016-17 campaign, Balado most recently spent the last four seasons on the Louisville men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach.  He has helped lead Louisville to a 25-8 record this season and a No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament, where the Cardinals defeated Jacksonville State in the first round and are set to play Michigan today at 11:10 a.m. CT on CBS.

During Balado’s four seasons working with head coach Rick Pitino at Louisville, the Cardinals have posted a 106-31 overall record for a .774 winning percentage.  His first season with the program saw it post a 31-6 record, claim the American Athletic Conference tournament and regular-season championships, advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 and earn a top-five national ranking.

The Cardinals posted a 27-9 record in 2014-15 during their first season in the ACC and reached the NCAA Elite Eight.  The 2015-16 season saw Louisville put together a 23-8 record and a No. 16 ranking in the final Associated Press poll.
