According to a report by ESPN, Canisius head basketball coach Jim Baron has retired. Baron has been at Canisius for the past four seasons where he has gone 73-61. He has also been the head coach at URI (2001-12), St. Bonaventure (1992-2001), and St. Francis, PA (1987-92). During his 29 seasons as a DI head coach, he has amassed a 462-430 record. According to the report, Baron wants to see his two sons, Jimmy and Billy, play more. They currently together on a team in Belgium.

Assistant Pat Clarke will take over as the interim head coach, effective immediately.
