BREAKING: Donyell Marshall to be Named Head Coach at Central Connecticut

Buffalo assistant coach Donyell Marshall is expected to be named as the next head coach at Central Connecticut State University.  ESPN was the first to report this earlier in the afternoon.  Marshall will be the second Buffalo staffer to depart this week – HoopDirt.com reported yesterday that Director of Player Development Julius Hodge would be joining Herb Sendek at Santa Clara as an assistant coach.

After wrapping up a 15-year NBA career, Marshall had stints as an assistant at Rider and George Washington before joining the UB staff prior to last season. The former UConn standout beat out two other finalists for the CCSU job – Stony Brook associate head coach Jay Young and DePaul assistant Patrick Sellers.  The other coaches who interviewed on campus were: Providence associate head coach Andre LaFleur, St. Bonaventure assistant coach Steve Curran, Iona associate head coach Jared Grasso, and Seton Hall associate head coach Shaheen Holloway.

The official announcement is expected shortly.
