According to multiple media sources, Pat Knight has been relieved of his duties as the head coach at Lamar. His squad was currently 3-22 (2-11 Southland) and the are coming off a 3-28 (1-17) season. Knight was quoted by ESPN.com as saying "I was told last night to meet with the president and the AD this morning at 10 a.m. I knew it. There’s no talk. They said they want to go in a different direction. We struggled for two years. It’s all based on the record. It’s part of the business.”

Lamar has five games remaining this season.
