According to a report, Louisville has fired head basketball coach Rick Pitino. The news was first reported by television reporter Kent Taylor of WAVE-TV in Kentucky. Taylor just tweeted the following:

According to sources, Tom Jurich was asked to fire Rick Pitino, refused, both were fired

**UPDATE: Pitino’s lawyer, Steve Pence, told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Pitino had been placed on administrative leave but that he was “effectively fired.”

A 1pm press conference has been scheduled.
